Greta Thunberg is a Swedish climate activist known for challenging world leaders to take immediate action against climate change. She speaks out the truth and in the most aggressive way possible.
Should make more people like her, shouldn’t it? Well, you’d be surprised. Many people on various social media platforms, especially Twitter, just HATE Great Thunberg, and here are the reasons why:
Note: We’re not spreading any hate towards her and her supporters. We are just analyzing the reasons why some people don’t quite like her.
1) HER LACK OF EDUCATION AND HYPOCRISY ON THE TOPICS SHE TALKS ABOUT
This point was the most highlighted one in the tweets and articles I read. Some people on Quora say, “She defies science and education, and the irony is that she uses most of the devices, science, and technology made.”
“She wants a ban on oil extraction but, does she know ships and yachts that she used to come to New York ran on oil?”
Another user added, ‘People like Greta and her followers underestimate the importance of a healthy economy and have no idea what an economic collapse means.’ ‘They don’t know closing industries would lead to mass unemployment and ultimately to poverty, which would further lead to death and crime.’

2) PLAYING THE VICTIM
This started around when 2019 when Greta Thunberg gave a speech at the UN. Catch her full video at the UN here.
Looking at the comments, you realize there are mostly hate comments, talking about how the tone of the voice is so aggressive and emotionally loaded.
Many people believe that Greta’s words only gave anxiety and not solutions to teens. Some users on Twitter tweeted,

So basically, people got triggered by how Greta lived comfortably and didn’t even try to understand how poor children lived, and yet, at the UN acted as if she was the victim.
People also pointed out how other speech givers were calm while speaking, informing the audience of do’s and don’ts.
3) NO PROPER ACTIONS
People also point out how the speeches Greta Thunberg delivers are written by her PR team and not by her.

Some people on Quora posted, ‘People who should get recognition for actually doing something don’t get such fame, and for Greta, a how dare you is all it takes.’

4) IGNORING DEVELOPING COUNTRIES
One thing #COP26 has taught me #GretaThunberg knows how to shout #BlahBlahBlan without offering any meaningful solutions whilst shouting in places where others are trying to do something, whilst ignoring China, Russia & India.

Greta’s solutions are mostly like, “No more electricity production, no more oil extraction.” But this isn’t how it works in developing countries. These countries require a lot of resources and electricity to produce those.
Arab is famous for oil extraction. There is no other resource for trading except that. You can read about her latest speech blasting leaders here.
Well, that mostly covers why the internet hates Great but to be honest, social media will always find new reasons and ways to hate people. You can’t please EVERYONE. Some people will always disagree with you.
