PREDICTED BIG NAMES IN THE GRAND SLAMS
Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, Dominic Thiem will be the prominent names in 2030. They are the future of tennis, also known as NextGen. They have exceptional game, high-level fitness, worldwide recognition, and whatnot.
However, one of many things that will be missing in a few years is the presence of The Big Three- Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic. They have continued to dominate men’s tennis for the past two decades. From the 2003 Wimbledon to the 2021 US Open, they have won 60 of the 73 (82%) Grand Slam Titles and reached 67 finals. With such a significant impact, it is very difficult to imagine the Grand Slams without them.
THE NEXTGEN
Some strong opinions about NextGen can be made by looking at the current scenario. Let us look at them one by one. The notable impact on hard court Slams would be by Russian giant Daniil Medvedev, who has achieved tremendous success lately. He has 12 of his 13 tour-level titles on hard courts, one of them being the US Open Grand Slam. He has an overall win-loss index of 169-62 on hard courts, with a 38-6 W-L as of now in 2021. He is a very strong baseliner, possesses superior lateral movement and quickness. On the other hand, Clay courts may be influenced by Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, who has played exceptionally recently. With a 23-5 win-loss index on clay this year, two ATP titles, Roland Garros runner-up, he has been quite consistent on clay.
Other people who play well on clay include Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev, and Medvedev. Players who have a brilliant game on all surfaces are German Zverev and one-time Grand Slam champ Thiem.
They are the most experienced NextGen players to date. Turning professional in 2013 and 2011, respectively, they have played more than 400 matches, winning almost 300 of them. With the modern development, players are getting even stronger, making use of all the new facilities and technological advances, and taking the game of tennis to new heights.
