Five reasons why Sam&Bucky is a better duo than Cap&Bucky.

Date:

If there’s one thing Marvel is good at, it’s creating ICONIC duos. From Mobius & Loki to Natasha & Yelena, Marvel has time and again gave us that warm and fuzzy feeling, and I couldn’t be more thankful!

One such iconic duo is none other than the oldest: steve rogers & Bucky Barnes. They have been there for each other through thick and thin, through more than one world-ending event, and have always had each other’s backs.

BUT it seems like this seemingly “perfect” duo has some competition.

With the release of the new Marvel series”the falcon and the winter soldier,” the sam-bucky duo is getting some serious attention, and rightly so.

So, today we will see 5 reasons why the Sam & Bucky is a better duo than Cap & Bucky.

5) SAM ACCEPTS AND UNDERSTANDS BUCKY

Despite steve and bucky’s long history, steve couldn’t understand the bucky. He always looked for the “old bucky” or the 1940s bucky in him. He couldn’t understand the MASSIVE amount of trauma bucky had gone through.

On the other hand, sam, having been a counsellor for veterans, understood bucky’s trauma and accepted him. He accepted bucky’s “staring problem” and his other quirks. He tried to normalize everything by making jokes and bantering with him.

Overall it can be seen that Sam understands and accepts Bucky. It gives Bucky a chance to be more than what Sharon eloquently states, “mister America, caps best friend!”

4) SAM & BUCKY BRING OUT THE BEST IN EACH OTHER

Friendship is by no means a one-way road, and it has to involve equal efforts on both sides.

Sam and Bucky beautifully exemplify this. They both bring out the best in each other while fighting AND outside of it. They can be seen beautifully in sync while not only fighting intense battles but also while doing trivial tasks like fixing a boat.

Whereas with cap & bucky, it was never equal effort from both sides.

Also, like we already discussed, with Cap, Bucky had no room to grow. He would always be compared with the “old him,” which is immensely toxic.

Needless to say, Cap and Bucky had amazing fighting dynamic. They were by far the best fighting duos we have ever seen, but they didn’t synch that well outside of that.

Atleast the new Steve and Bucky didn’t.

3) SAM ACTUALLY CARES

Sam is unarguably one of the most emphatic and caring characters in the MCU. From risking his life and going to jail for cap to regularly texting Bucky(even when Bucky doesn’t respond) after the endgame, Sam very obviously CARES.

This caring nature of Sam is something that Bucky very desperately needs (even though he might not show it).

Bucky has had almost NO friends since the endgame.

Bucky has cared for other people almost all his life. From caring for Steve in the 1940s to literally saving the earth, this man has never caught a break.

Now finally, he has sam, a friend, a safe place, a non-judgement zone, a person who CARES.

2) SAM IS LOYAL

One of the basic needs of a friendship is loyalty.

And Bucky has had some bad experience with it. From falling from the train and being experimented on to Cap eventually leaving him for Peggy, his life has been filled with painful betrayals.

If there is something we know about Sam, it’s that he is fiercely loyal. He committed to cap, AND he kept his commitment, not budging even when he had to go to a high-security prison. All because he was loyal.

That’s why I think sam and bucky make a good duo.

Now bucky finally has Someone he can trust, Someone who has his back, Someone who won’t abandon him.

1) SAM GAVE BUCKY A FAMILY

If there is anything Bucky cared the most about, it was his family.

Before hydra, he is seen taking care of his sisters, mom, and of course, steve.

Our self-sacrificing idiot always puts everyone else before him. His life has been one long and painfully sad story, from being taken by hydra and being experimented on to finally getting his mind back but Steve leaving. Our boy has never caught a break.

If there was anything Bucky needed after hydra, it was family. Family to ground him, to make him feel human again, to show him people still cared about him. Unfortunately, what he got was a lot different. He was immediately brought into the middle of a civil war and then jumped from one world ending event to another.

Now, he has finally found some peace with Sam. He has finally found a place that calms him. He doesn’t have to save the lives of the population of the world. He gets to do ordinary simple jobs like fixing a boat.

He finally trusts himself.

He finally got time to heal.

At the end of the series, there is a very powerful shot where we see bucky hanging some kids off his metal arm. That shows that he trusts himself. He trusts ALL of himself now, thanks to sam.
