Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik have gone their separate ways after nearly six years together; it happened after an incident with Gigi’s mom, Yolanda Hadid. Zayn Malik, 28, and Gigi Hadid, 26, have been on and off since November 2015 and welcomed their child together in September 2020.
Zayn and Gigi named their daughter Khai. According to multiple reports, the couple is no longer together right now.
Yolanda Hadid is telling people around her that Zayn struck her. Gigi was not there at the incident, so she had to listen to both sides. Hours after the reports broke out; Zayn Malik took to his official Twitter handle to release a statement on this matter, telling his fans that he wants to create a private and safe space for his daughter to grow up in.

“This was and still should be a private matter but seems for now there is disunity and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been “leaked” to the press,” Zayn said. “I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared, and more importantly, I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves,” he added. Yolanda was a source of tension in their relationship, saying that “Yolanda was repeatedly showing up unexpected and unwanted,” and this led to some tension between them, which Zayn tried to resolve with his partner.”
Zayn felt that Yolanda was getting in the middle of things. Both of their priority is co-parenting their one-year-old daughter Khai. They are both very committed to working together to co-parent Khai and love her with all their hearts. A source said that Zayn’s issues with Yolanda are over a year old. The tension started between Yolanda and Zayn last year when he suspected she was the one who leaked their pregnancy news in the first place.
Gigi and Zayn didn’t want to announce it publicly until after Gigi gave birth. They were so grateful for that privacy, and they were very upset when it came out. Zayn is a very, very private person, and while dating him, Gigi has become a lot more private. Multiple reports and sources were claiming; this breakup isn’t permanent. They split with the intention of getting back together.
They’ve broken up multiple times before, so when it comes to them getting back together, never say never. But they definitely need time apart; it’s what’s best for everyone involved. Shortly after, news broke of Yolanda claiming Zayn “struck” her that the model “is solely focused on the best for Khai and asks for privacy during this time.
