CES 2023
CES 2023 is on its way and due to arrive on the 5th of January. With many big manufacturers back from their covid break (Microsoft, Google, Sony, LG, Garmin, Asus, Nvidia and more), we should expect to see oodles of new products.
Smart Home:
If you have been in the market for a smart home, you may have noticed this one company called ZigBee. Well, the company that developed them, the connectivity standards alliance, is now focusing their attention on a new smart home standard, which they are naming “Matter”. But through the waves of new smart home technologies, does this product really matter?
Well, the standard is aiming to be royalty free and adoptable by all the tech giants. Apple, Amazon, Google and Samsung are all working on the design of this product and so we should see a level of interoperability between these devices and finally a standard that you can be sure that your smart home support when buying new products. This standard works as normal smart home standards do and can be used anywhere from smart lights to your Gucci smart socks.
With a mesh (series of interconnected devices) based system, the devices are also able to work offline, and with new developments in the microchip field, these devices can work at extremely low power. This allows your smart home to be safe even when there is no internet!
The second innovation in the smart home industry is a new product called SkyX Plug. It aims to be a standardized plug and play power adapter for ceilings. Used to attach lighting, ceiling fans, room heating, air conditioners, Bluetooth speakers, smoke/ CO2 detectors, security cameras, Wi-Fi extenders, mesh clients, projectors, and so much more, this power jack can support up to 200 pounds for any device you can attach to the ceiling.
The big companies:
Samsung and Sony are also planning to launch new Micro-LED TVs that stretch up to 100 inches! A new company called Displace is allow expected to unveil a new totally wireless OLED TV at this event.
Big car brands such as BMW, Toyota, Honda, Mercedes-Benz and more are also expected to launch more consumer EVs. Here’s to hoping they will be cheaper and more accessible to the public!
However cool this extra stuff is, laptops and personal computers are expected to be the focus of CES, with many new devices being launched by Lenovo, Dell and HP all looking forward to launching new 2 in 1s in 2023.
Extra Launches:
Candela is preparing to launch their new C-8 electric flying boat. With the combined use of hydrofoil and electric torque, they have managed to make this their fastest and longest-range boat.
Digital health, a major focus in many events nowadays, is also taking over this event. With new otc (over the counter) products being developed, it is now easier than ever to get the technology that you need to get better!
Sony is releasing new otc hearing aids called the CRE-C10 (catchy name Sony) that are very small and versatile. They boast that it “fits discreetly inside the ear canal for a virtually invisible look” and that it is very versatile. Disregarding the fact that they cost as much as a new iPhone, this is a great leap in accessibility of medical products to the public!
However, Sony is not the only company developing hearing aids. HP are developing aids called “HP Hear Pro” which are powered by nuheara, Jabras “Enhance Plus”, absolute audio labs focusing their attention on this and eargo (who are doing something similar).
