2021 was a hell of a year for an Anime Fan, with all-time great animes like Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, Fruit Basket, and JoJo’s Bizarre adventure getting new sequels to their series, we also got to see some new and fresh animes debuting like Jujutsu Kaisen, Tokyo Revengers, Eighty-Six, Ranking of the Kings and Odd Taxi, just to name a few!
While 2021 was maybe one of the best years for an Anime fan, I can assure you 2022 is no compromise either.
So here are some promising-lookinganimes released so far in 2022!
SPY X FAMILY
Spy x Family became one of the most hyped animes of 2022, even before it was released!
The plot revolves around 3 main protagonists, The Father Loid Forger, who is secretly a spy, The Mother, Yor Forger, who is secretly an assassin, and finally, The Daughter, Anya Forger, who is a telepath.
While initially, the idea seems kinda unusual or weird, the three characters blend very well together. They must complete their adventures while also trying to hide their identities from everyone around them. It is the perfect blend of fun and action; at the same time, it also includes a lot of wholesome moments which make can make a grown man laugh out loud!
Moreover, the Anime is being made in a collaboration between 2 of Japan’s most highly rated studios, WIT, and Cloverworks, they have been successful in making fluid and smooth animation which gives this Anime a foot above everyone else.
The voice actor casting has also been fantastic with Atsumi Tanezaki playing Anya Forger, Takuya Eguchi playing Loid Forger, and Saori Hayami playing Yor Forger.
BLUE LOCK
Blue Locke is another Anime that millions of Anime fans around the world have been waiting for. Set in 2018, the Japanese national soccer team misses their chance to qualify for the World Cup and sets a plan in motion to build the team to superstardom. They hire a mysterious coach who insists on a grueling training program called Blue Lock, utilizing AI competitors to find the best striker to lead the country to victory in the 2022 World Cup. Now I know what you’re thinking, what news right?
We have seen millions of animes where the protagonist goes from nothing to one of the best players or characters in the entire anime all due to hard work right? Wrong, Blue Lock follows the story of Yoichi Isagi, a young and upcoming striker who is one of the chosen individuals for the gruesome Blue Lock program.
He receives the invitation just as he becomes frustrated with his team’s devastating loss at the nationals. Given the promise of creating the greatest strikers in the league, Yoichi can’t help but grab the opportunity that could realize his dream. However, what awaits him is far from the typical boot camp.
To create the ultimate striker, the candidates of the Blue Lock program are treated like slaves and are kept in a prison-like facility without any contact with their friends, families, or the outside world.
It’s a sporty twist to the Battle Royale genre where the eliminated players can never compete internationally ever again. Unlike other sports Animes like Haikyuu, Days or Yowamushi pedal, Blue Lock does not focus on teamwork and only focuses on individual skill, after all, no one can be trusted in this Battle Royale type format. The Anime is set to be released sometime between October and November.
CHAINSAW MAN
Now unless you have been living under a rock for the past 2 years, you have probably at least heard of Chainsaw man. Chainsaw man quickly rose to fame after its debut manga was released in 2020.
It was recorded as the most sold manga without an anime adaptation in 2021.
The plot follows the story of a young man named Denji; After the death of his father, Denji is left with a huge debt to repay. Denji later makes a contract with a small dog-like devil named Pochita, who grants him the power to turn his body parts into Chainsaws as per need.
Denji starts slaying devils as a way of earning money to pay back the huge debt left behind by his father. The series is overall a pretty fun Anime, with possibly some of the greatest Fights in Anime history. Moreover, CHAINSAW MAN is being made by Mappa Studios, one of Japan’s most famous Anime studios known for their amazing animation and fight scenes. While not much is known about the anime so far, it is rumored to be released around December 2022.
