4 NORMAL-LOOKING SKIN CONDITIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE

Date:

There are lots of different diseases in this day and date and of course, us normal people cant know all of them. So when you see some mild symptoms or abnormalities, you do at least one of these two things: sit home thinking it’s nothing, or google your symptoms and play doctor.
So, today I have brought you a few skin diseases which don’t look bad but you might need the doctor.

1) ACRAL PEELING SKIN SYNDROME

skin peeling

You might have seen your upper layer of skin peeling off. Peeling it off can be satisfying, but sometimes these can also be troublesome. ACRAL PEELING SKIN SYNDROME causes shedding of skin mostly on palms and feet. It can cause continuous painless peeling of the skin and if you love peeling that dead skin off just like me then…you have hit the jackpot.
But…it’s a rare condition, AND excessive shedding can also be because of Epidermolysis bullosa simplex. Till now this looked OK. But there are some more symptoms I would like to introduce to you fellas.

Blisters, itching, hair loss. And since your epidermis is peeling off your skin, it will become thinner and hence become more sensitive to light, water, heat… Currently, this has no cure but you can put on some petroleum jelly on your skin to avoid the peeling and your doctor might prescribe you some ointments to be applied after a bath while the skin is still damp. So, this skin disease is definitely not as dangerous as some others but I would recommend you to go consult a doctor, and NOT self-diagnose if you’re having excessive peeling, blisters, and sensitivity.

2) ARGYRIA

smurf man

Ever thought of becoming a smurf for a fancy dress party?…well, I didn’t. But if you did, and want to get that organic blue glow then get yourself overloaded with silver (Lmao).
Argyria is also rare and you get this because of too much exposure to silver. There are compounds of silver mixed in the air we breathe and sometimes while working with silver some particles might get in through cuts.
Other than increasing the shelf life of the food and giving you some good jewelry, silver does nothing good. When there’s an excess amount of silver in your body then your skin starts turning bluish-grey or blue at very early stages. Laser treatment can help with discoloration but it’s not a good solution.

Well, no one knows how much silver is in excess, so if you are preparing to become a smurf then you might as well contribute to science by finding out the limit!
But seriously, though, if you notice a bluish-grey tint on your skin better go see a doctor before it becomes “permanent”.
And here’s an advice: avoid sunlight as it will react with silver and get you more melanin and make the skin darker.

3) ACANTHOSIS NIGRICANS

Well, I have seen a lot of people giving tips and “hacks” to get rid of dark armpits. But seriously stop it.
Acanthosis Nigricans causes the skin around the neck, the genitals, armpits, and also under the breasts to darken.
But don’t go on the internet looking for ways to get rid of this.
Of course, not all darkness or discoloration is because of this condition and you don’t need to worry too much but just get it checked out with the doctor before trying any “hacks” that could probably harm you.
Moreover, darkness and discoloration can also be a symptom of obesity, or some endocrine glandular disorder, and diabetes too.

So yeah…get a professional doctor. Again just to reiterate, discoloration DOES NOT mean you have any of these major diseases but it’s always better to check it out.

4) LUPUS

Lupus, a long-term autoimmune disease, causes the immune system to become hyperactive. Now the hyperactive immune system is worse than my hyperactive little sister as she just jumps around all day giving me a headache but the hyperactive immune system attacks your healthy tissues.
Common symptoms are inflammation, swelling, and damage to the joints, skin, kidneys, blood, heart, and lungs. Some others are arthritis, trouble breathing, fever, mouth ulcers, fatigue… Now there are different types of lupus.
First is Systemic lupus erythematosus, the most common one, and also the one with the most severe symptoms.

Then Discoid lupus erythematosus also called cutaneous lupus as it only affects the skin. Rashes appear on your face, neck, and scalp with no harm to the internal organs. In some cases, this can further develop into Systemic lupus erythematosus.
You can also get drug-induced lupus. Now it’s either that you are allergic to that particular drug or it’s a side effect and it will go away after a few days of stopping the medication.
Sometimes, very rarely, the mother can transfer Systemic lupus erythematosus to the infant. Infants with neonatal lupus will have rashes on their bodies, liver problems, and anemia. The rashes can go away after a few weeks but in some cases, the baby gets a congenital heart block and might need a pacemaker.
Now, what exactly causes this lupus is unclear.

Well, that’s all I got for you fellas. Many symptoms might look normal but they can also be the early signs of really harmful and fatal diseases. I know going to the doctor for everything can be expensive (not for our silver-eating fellas) but you only get to live once and doctors need that money!
Adios!
